Study Design Overview

VCE General Mathematics provides students with practical mathematical skills in statistics, financial mathematics, networks, matrices and geometry. It is designed for students who want to extend their numeracy and problem-solving skills in everyday and workplace contexts without the calculus focus of Mathematical Methods. Units 1 and 2 cover linear relations, data distributions, financial arithmetic, matrices and networks. Units 3 and 4 follow the current VCAA Mathematics study design (2023–2027). Two end-of-year exams test students, including a CAS-active Examination 2. On Excelerate, every General Mathematics question maps to the study design, so you can practise one topic at a time and get your work marked with the reasoning.
